Discrimination Between HND-BSC Holders To End Soon By FG

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu  said that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has taken all
necessary steps towards bringing an end to the issue of discrimination between Higher National Diploma (HND) and the Bachelor’s degree
holders.

Speaking at the weekend during the 32nd combined convocation and Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Kaduna Polytechnic, Adamu reiterated that the present administration was much aware of the issue of discrimination between
HND and degree and would bring an end to it soon.

He said government was currently faced with challenge of enormous demands for funds to run public institutions, and that funding of education was capital intensive.

He appealed to the staff unions of polytechnics to be patient with the present government as efforts
were being made to address all their demands within available resources.

He therefore urge all well-meaning Nigerians, private sector and non-government organisations to support government in funding education.

The minister who was represented by the Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. Masa’udu Adamu Kazaure, felicitated with the graduands and challenged the
alumni of the polytechnic to contribute to the speedy attainment of the technological development of the country by initiating meaningful projects on campus as a way of fast
tracking the growth and development of their alma mater.

Earlier in his address, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had
approved to expend N3.4billion on infrastructural development in the polytechnic.

The bank, he said, had carried out feasibility study and had advertised in some national dailies its decision to carry out projects in the institution.

He said the polytechnic was conducting the 32nd convocation for 10 sets of 67,403 graduands from
2005 to 2015 academic years.
