NYSC DG Seek Stop page Of Corps Redeployment From North

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazure has implored Corps members to stop
seeking for relocation from the north adding that the north is no longer volatile.

According to him, more than 50 per cent of Corps members sent to the north usually seek relocation to other parts of the country.

He said that the recent development has not encouraged the unity in diversity which the scheme is supposed to address.

Addressing the 2016 Batch B Stream 2 Corps members at the Niger state Permanent orientation camp in Paiko during his visit on Tuesday, Kazure urged the Corps members to
keep an open mind and give the north a chance.

The Director General who was represented by the Director of Information Communication
Technology (ICT), Mrs. Christy Ifeyinwa Uba said, “do not dwell on the negative things you have heard about the north, do not seek
relocation.

“I want to assure you that the people of the north are peaceful and friendly. Keep an open mind and give it a chance and a trial. Your posting is not by mistake, stay here and make some impact on the people of the state.”

The DG then encouraged the Corps members to meet their state and local government coordinators in the event of any problems or challenges urging them not to take to the
social media to address the issues.

“Lay your complain to your state coordinator or local government coordinator; do not go to the social media to express yourself negatively.

NYSC is a family and corps members are family members, we should be able to address our problems in-house.”

In her address, the Niger state NYSC
Coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Ibukun Arokoyo said that efforts have been made to draw the attention of the state government to the need to actualize the speedy construction of the permanent orientation camp adding that they always face challenges of the security of their facilities after every orientation exercise.

She then stressed that the need for secure and structurally adequate facilities adding that a positive action towards the realization of a befitting orientation camp will be
appreciated
