WAEC Relocate Candidate's GCE Center In EDO State

The West African Examination Council (WAEC)  has provided venues in Agbor, Delta State and Ore, Ondo state for candidates writing the General Certificate Examination (GCE) on Saturday,September 10 in Edo State due to the Edo state governorship election that is expected to hold on
the same day in the centres the candidates were suppose to use for the exam.

This is coming after INEC and security operatives in the state have refuse to grant the request of
the council to allow students participating ion the exam and other exam functionaries free movement on that day since movement will be
restricted in the state due to the election.

According to Head, Public Affairs for WAEC Nigeria, Demianus Ojijeogu, the examination must hold.

It cannot be postponed since it is an
international exam and will be written in four either African countries at the same time.

This situation has left the Council with no other alternative than to relocate the candidates.

He however added that the Council is still expecting the State government and INEC to shift
grounds since there will be free movement on that day for eligible voters, the candidates can also be
allowed to go and write the exam as long as they are properly identified.

He further mentioned that research has shown that candidates often perform poorly when you move them from where they have prepared for
exams to another state or where they have been writing exams to another location because it affects them psychologically.
