On JULY 4th 2016, students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko received the news of their lecturers embarking on a indefinite strike action with rude shock and bitterness within them.
The entire studentry was amazed by the decision of ASUU-AAUA majorly because their academic calendar was going to be elongated and prolonged. Dr. Fayose (ASUU-AAUA CHAIRMAN) in a release stated that members of his union were withdrawing their services because of the three (3) months salary owed alongside other financial reasons.
Today, 12th of August marks 40 days (960 hours and 5038 thousand seconds) that the about fifteen thousand students (15,000) of our institution have wasted at home doing no academic activity and staying idle. During this period, many students have gotten themselves involved in many disgusting things they would not have done if they had been academically engaged on campus. Several lives are wasting away, many are aimlessly wondering around, destinies are heading round in the same circle without positivity being added to them.
At this jucture, something urgent MUST BE DONE TO BRING THE ENTIRE STUDENT POPULATION BACK TO CAMPUS. For the love of the future, for the sake of we the youths who double as leaders of tomorrow, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, AAUA branch, the management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko headed by Prof. Igbekele Amos Ajibefun and the Ondo State government led by Gov. Segun Rahman Mimiko must find common ground to curtail this menace.
We are hopeful that the students of our university which we represent will get positive news about the aforementioned issue soon.
Signed
